DRDO Recruitment 2013: DRDO, established in 1958 by government of India, under ministry of defense, to focus primarily to develop, self reliance, in Weapons, Armaments and Warfare Systems Technology, of our defense forces. DRDO concentrates in areas of, Design, Develop and Production of advance technology armaments, in fields of Aeronautics, Electronics, Instrumentation, Missiles and computing, etc.
DRDO has network of 52 laboratories and training institutions, across the country.
For the purpose of its recruitment and training DRDO created RAC (Recruitment and Assess ment Centre), in 1985. Government of India exempted RAC, from preview of the UPSC. This means Recruitments at all levels and cadre positions are, done by RAC.
RAC recruitments are primarily at three levels
DRDS, Defense Research & Development Service.
DRTC Defense Research & Technology Cadre
Administration & Allied cadre
RAC conducts national level eligibility test, SET (Scientists eligibility Test), for scientist recruitments in engineering subjects like, Aeronautics, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Computer science, Electronics and communications and Statistics and Operation Research. Selected candidates are, called for interview for final selections.

Lateral Entry Scheme, under this scheme, RAC recruits experienced scholars through interview Assessment. For which vacancies are, notified regularly in Employment News.
ARDB, Aeronautical Development Board offers fellowship to engineering graduates in their final semester. Selections are, made through interview assessment by RAC and they are absorbed into DRDO after their completion of their course study.
